UCNS preschool provides a nurturing, inclusive environment where children’s natural curiosity leads the way. Our half-day programs are designed to build confidence, community, and a lifelong love of learning.
Arrival & Discovery
Each day begins with thoughtfully planned play area, both indoors and outdoors. Activities may include sandbox exploration, redwood stump climbing, block building, playdough creations, art projects, and sensory bins—giving children the freedom to choose what sparks their curiosity and imagination.

We gather for songs, stories, teacher-led activities, and our Bible curriculum. During this time, children develop confidence speaking in a group, grow their listening skills and gain practice sharing; while building a strong sense of belonging within our classroom community.
Circle & Small Groups
Student-led Exploration
After snack and fine-motor play, children head back outside for more large-motor fun. During this time, they build confidence and social skills as they move between independent and group play. Teachers guide collaborative games and support children in sharing and expressing their ideas.

An entry into being away from home for some of our youngest students. This class starts or builds upon social-emotional awareness, sensory discovery and building confidence in a classroom environment.

Playful Puppies 3’s Program
3 by Dec 1st | Mon - Thurs | 9 AM – 12 PM
Independence and curiosity take center stage in our Three’s Program. At this age, we focus on cooperative play, language development, and thematic projects that spark a deeper interest in the world. Children are encouraged to problem-solve, share ideas, and build lasting friendships in a supportive, play-based environment.

Outstanding Otters 4/5's (TK) Program
4 by Dec 1st | Mon – Thurs | 9 AM – 12PM
Our 4/5’s (TK) program focuses on kindergarten readiness through a robust, play-based curriculum. We integrate Zoo-phonics and Handwriting Without Tears to build a strong foundation in literacy and fine motor skills. Our students engage in complex problem-solving and leadership roles to build confidence in transitioning to "Big School."
Need a little More Time?
Our Stay & Play program offers a gentle extension to the school day for children ages 3 and up. It’s a wonderful opportunity for "Lunch Bunch" social time and deeper afternoon exploration in our outdoor play spaces.
Mon – Thurs | Pickup at 1:00 PM or 2:30 PM
